53RD ANNNUAL AWARDS BANQUET (Formal black tie attire)

  • The Jean Clayton Award – The NBPA Board of Directors established this award to honor the legacy of Jean Ford Clayton, a pioneering woman benefactor in policing. Sister Clayton is enshrined in the Ohio Police Hall of Fame for her advocacy to end race-based bias in the Cleveland, Ohio Department. This award is presented to the individual that the Board deems to a Jean Clayton-style role model that has demonstrated high moral qualities or ideas, or greatness of character.

  • The Renault Robinson Award – The NBPA Board of Directors established this award in 1972 ST. Louis Missouri. Brother Robinson was the NBPA’s first National Information Officer. His boldness and ability to articulate the positions of the NBPA and its membership was at ground center of the NBPA formative years. This award is presented to that NBPA member who has also traveled this road of advocacy at great risk to personal and professional standing without being co-opted.

  • Willie Smoot Meritorious Award – It is the intent of the NBPA to present an award to a chapter member organization that developed an outreach program that resulted in a positive impact upon the community served. Through the organization’s efforts, it demonstrated dedication to the principles for which the NBPA was founded garnered the confidence and respect of its community.
